Brody's First Bath!

I think this has to be my favorite picture of Brody yet! It is the funniest thing i've ever seen! I can't help but laugh out loud everytime i look at it!

Here is some more pics of Brody! Isn't he just the cutest!?

Brody's first bath!!

Looking a little confused!

And possibly terrified!
Look at that belly!!

We gave Brody his first bath today! I think he liked the water, but he seemed pretty confused and he did NOT like being cold afterwards! We got some great shots! He will be 4 weeks old tomorrow! I can't believe how fast it has gone by and how much he has grown and changed already! He is now a hefty 10 lbs. and has quite the little belly and double chin! I wouldn't have it any other way though, i think it's absolutely adorable!

Family pics!

This was the first day i put Brody in his Vans, i had to leave the tissue in because they were way too big!! But aren't they SO cute!?

We took some family pictures on Sunday, they turned out pretty good... so i had to post a few!

Brody's first Thanksgiving!

My, not so little brother, Tanner with Brody! What a cute uncle!!
My adorable and mischievous twin nephews!!
Big cousin Makayla, holding Brody!! She's only 4 and she looks like a pro!

We had a blast this Thanksgiving! We got the cutest outfit for Brody that was perfect to wear for Thanksgiving, only it was, and still is, like 3 sizes too big for the little guy, but we were determined to have him wear it anyway, so we put it on regardless and took a ton of pictures of him in it, below are just a few!! It's crazy how fast babies grow and change! He already, in his two and a half weeks of life, has changed quite a bit. We think he starting to look, literally like a mini Clay, he's so stinking cute! At his two week appointment, he weighed 7 lbs. 12 oz. and was 20 and a half inches long. He already has so much personality, it's hilarious to just watch him! He's super strong for a newborn, and i'm not just saying that, everyone else notices it too! He holds his head on his own really well, and if you put him at the bottom or your chest he will literally scoot his way to the top with his legs! He loves having his hands up by his face at all times, and he makes the cutest little noises! Needless to say, we love our little guy and are having so much fun being new parents, even despite the sleep deprivation!

Going home from the hospital day!!
The outift we brought to the hospital to take him home in was ginormous on him! None of his newborn stuff fits quite yet!!
I think he inherited moma's current double chin!
Great Grandma and Grandpa Whitaker
Grandma lee-lee Starnes
More of Brody!
G-ma Porter!

Proud Papa!
Friend Lyndsey and me trying my hardest to sit up in bed!
This is a sight i'm sure we will see alot more of!

I just can't limit the number of pics too much so here's more, and more to come!

More pics of our little guy!

Looks just like daddy, don't you think?

So i know i said that i am "totally obsessed" with our little Brody... so i have to post some more pics of the past 6 days, his life, so far...

Well, I don't know when Brit is going to get a chance to update everyone so she told me just to. This baby stuff is pretty exhausting. Anyways, on Tuesday she was having contractions but wasn't sure if they really were contractions. That night, she got checked out and thought we would be getting up sometime early in the morning and heading to the hospital. We stayed at her parents so Stuart could make sure things were a go. She continued to have contractions all night and at 6am, she was checked again. She was 90% there but wasn't dilating still. Stuart called the hospital to see if there was room for her to be induced but they didn't have any. He called a half hour later and told us to just go in. At the hospital, they hooked her up to the monitors and sure enough she was having contractions about a minute apart. She still wasn't dilating though and the could see that after each contraction, Brody's heart rate would drop pretty badly. They broke her water to see if that would help dilating and when they did, there was merconium present. So Stuart made the decision to perform an emergency c-section because of the stress on Brody. When they pulled him out, the cord was wrapped around his neck twice and they rushed him to a room next door where a respiratory team was waiting. I walked in about a minute after to see how he was doing only to see one of the team members intubating his bluish little body. His Apgar score was a 1, which is the worst. Brits mom was in the room too and she looked pretty scared, I was definitely freaking out inside and felt a little internal struggle between the firefighter and dad in me. I kept telling myself that they know what they are doing and are some of the best in the valley. They stuck a suction tube down into his lungs and sucked out a bunch of liquid then threw a bag valve mask on him and started breathing for him. He started to breath a bit on his own but was gasping and grunting for breaths, so they took him to the NICU and hooked him up to a cpap mask, meanwhile Brits is super worried about him. He made a quick recovery and spent over two hours in the nicu. I stayed with him the whole time. Brit was wheeled in after 3 and still didn't get to hold him, just see him. We took him to the nursery to wash up and warm him up. It was a little after 4 when Brit finally got to hold him. We are so lucky and grateful that her dad knew what was going on and made good calls to take care of our little guy. We are having so much fun. Its been 4 days as a parent and it definitely is one of the greatest things.

We're going home today.

I think this blog stuff is a lot easier and exciting once you have a kid, its kind of a funny way to brag to everyone about them. Anyways, we are going home today so I'll make sure Brit gets a chance to update everyone sometime today. Its amazing being a Dad and Brit is loving being a Mom. She says she "is totally obsessed with him."

He's Here!

Brody came on Wed at 11:21 am. Had to make it a little stressful and dramatic for us but I'll let Brit tell that to everyone... They are both doing great and we are still at the hospital because Brit had an emergency c-section so its taking a little bit longer to recover than a normal delivery. Heres a couple pictures... we'll post more later. I'm definitely a proud papa bear.
